Cakes for everyday celebrations
About the baker
Square Cakes began in my home kitchen, but it was shaped long before that. I'm Korean by birth and married into a Filipino family where food is never just food. It's connection, generosity and how we mark time together. Baking became my way of honoring that everyday culture of gathering, while bringing my own love of structure and intention to the table.
I've always been drawn to building things in forms of teams, products, systems, and now, cakes. After years of working at scale, I found myself drawn to something slower and more tactile, the delicious magic of butter, flour, heat and time. I care deeply about structure, balance, and subtle details. That mindset shows up in my kitchen through measured experimentation, repeated testing, and a quite obsession with getting texture just right.
Square Cakes represents this season of my life: choosing craft, slowing down, and creating something tangible and meaningful from scratch. Each cake is a made in small batches in my Brooklyn kitchen, with the belief that simple ingredients, handled thoughtfully, can become something worth celebrating even on an ordinary day.

About the cakes and baked items
These cakes are designed for everyday celebrations.
Not weddings or grand events, but the dinner that turns into lingering conversations. Small gatherings with friends. A "just because" moment. A way to elevate an ordinary meal into something a bit more special.
The square shape reflects simplicity and intension with clean lines, balanced proportions, and nothing excessive. Flavors are inspired by the Asian ingredients we grew up loving, such as, black sesame, pandan, ube, mango, sweet rice, and tea that are reimagined in a way that feels familiar yet distinct.
Each cake is made in small batches in my Brooklyn kitchen. They're meant to be sliced generously, passed around, and enjoyed without ceremony.
Simple ingredients, handled thoughtfully, and meant to be shared with joy in the everyday.
